WSE — What Is It?

The main market for stock trading in Poland, operating since 1991.

Explanation

Several hundred companies are listed on the main market. Alongside it is NewConnect, a market for smaller and younger companies, with less stringent disclosure requirements and significantly higher risk.

Trading on the WSE takes place on business days from 9:00 to 17:00, with a closing phase until 17:05. Companies publish price-sensitive information via the ESPI system.

Example

A company on the main market is obliged to publish periodic reports and inside information; a company on NewConnect is subject to a lighter regulatory regime.
